Summer is undoubtedly the best time to shed some inches off your waist. It is moist and humid and these are good excuses to give a break to your oven. Rainbow Salad with Tahini Topping

With 204 calorie per serving, this salad is rich with Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Magnesium, Manganese, Protein, Fats, Carbs, Fiber and Iron. Here is how to make it.

  • ¾ cup grated cucumber with skin
  • ¼ cup grated sweet onion
  • 3 cup grated cabbage
  • 1 cup grated red or orange carrot
  • ½ cp thinly sliced sweet onion
  • 1 ¼ cup chopped parsley with stems
  • ½ cup shelled organic hemp seeds

For Making dressing

  • 2 tablespoons B grade maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon Tahini
  • ½ cup garlic powder
  • Juice of 1 small lemon
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Mix all ingredients of dressing in a small bowl. Cut all the ingredients using the best kitchen knives set, mix them all in a large serving bowl and add dressing. Toss all ingredients well. This recipe serves 4 people.

Cranberry and Pistachio Bites

  • 8 ounce chopped dates
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon ground flax seeds
  • 1 cup shelled pistachios
  • 1/3 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 ½ cup old fashioned oats
  • A pinch of salt

Mix dates, flax seeds, chia seeds, honey and salt in food processor until thick and smooth.

Transfer to a bowl and mix cranberries, oats, white chocolate chips and pistachios in the mixture. Cover with a sheet and leave in refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Now make bite-sized energy bars or truffles and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Portobello Burgers with Cheese and Cashew Stuffing

  • 4 portobello mushrooms
  • 1 tablespoon liquid aminos
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ cup water
  • 1/3 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1 ¾ cup cashews
  • 2 tablespoon miso
  • 2 peeled garlic cloves
  • Juice of 1 small lemon
  • Salt and herbs to taste
  • 1 sliced tomato
  • Chopped parsley

Marinate mushrooms with olive oil and liquid aminos for 3 hours.

Blend all remaining ingredients except tomato and parsley.

Stuff mushrooms with cheese stuffing and serve with tomato and parsley topping.

I and my friend wanted to try something new in vacations so we chose beach yoga retreat. Different services offer different types of yoga beaches. My suggestion here is to choose a service with more beach options. Different beaches have different benefits. Some beaches have higher mineral and salt concentration which let your skin absorb more minerals. Some beaches offer better sun exposure and are good to choose for more vitamin D absorption.

We chose better sun exposure and more mineral absorption. The service put us in a group of 9 total members and allotted us a beach. It was a 3-day beach yoga retreat; a quick boost for activating your daily life and rejuvenating your wellbeing. So here we were; ready and packed with yoga mats, yoga pants, dvds (just in case) and off we went.


We had thought of making weird yoga poses while crowds around us would take pictures and post our memes on social networking sites. But now I believe that nothing could be more interesting and more life-giving than a beach yoga retreat. Our location was an empty part of beach with only 9 of us and our instructor there.

Our key activities included these.

  • Daily yoga of 3 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening
  • Short cooking classes in which we cooked delicious recipes with healthiest combinations of foods
  • Beach excursions
  • Yoga massages of 2 hours daily

We had optional activities as well which were not missed by even a single member of our group.

  • Happy Hour included physical activities like biking, bicycling, volleyball, hand ball and kayaking
  • Yoga consultation in which brief lectures on yoga and question/answer sessions were held
  • Water sports like parasailing and fishing
  • Additional yoga massages
  • Brief lectures on activities related with yoga like Ayurveda and Bikram Yoga

After my yoga beach retreat, I felt my rebirth. I returned home with glowing skin and improved health but I was stunned to note that more changes appeared on my physical and mental health even after one week of my beach yoga retreat. Improved concentration, toned physique, improved performance at school, better understanding of subjects and situations, better decision making, improved vision, improved socializing skills, and above all; better bones are key benefits of yoga retreat.
